The European Diamond Capacity Hub & the ALMASI EU funded Project will hold a joint event on the 14th and 15th January 2025 in Madrid, Spain, to mark the announcement of their launch.
At the event, the key features of the European Diamond Capacity Hub will be presented, along with a range of opportunities for active participation and collaboration. The role of the ALMASI project in the global Diamond Open Access landscape and its component elements will be introduced. The registration for the in-person event is open until 16 December 2024 (12:00 PM CET).
The European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) aims to strengthen the Diamond OA community in Europe by supporting European institutional, national and disciplinary capacity centres and Diamond publishers and service providers in their mission of Diamond OA scholarly publishing. By providing coordination, sustainability, training modules, technical tools, and services at scale, the EDCH provides valuable resources to these Diamond stakeholders. In doing so, the EDCH answers the need for capacity building in the Diamond OA community that was expressed in the Action Plan for Diamond Open Access.

The ALMASI Project (Aligning and Mutualizing Nonprofit Open Access Publishing Services Internationally) seeks to develop a nonprofit, high-quality, and sustainable scholarly communication ecosystem spanning three regions: Africa, Europe, and Latin America. This three-year initiative, starting in January 2025, involving 15 partners from across three continents, will work towards:
- Understanding the current landscape of nonprofit OA publishing in the three regions.
- Co-designing and aligning measures for quality standards, training resources, and institutional and national policy development.

En mettant à disposition formations, outils techniques et autres services à l’échelle européenne pour une meilleure durabilité et coordination, l’EDCH fournit des ressources précieuses à ces acteurs. Ce faisant, l’EDCH répond au besoin de renforcement des capacités de la communauté exprimé dans l’Action Plan for Diamond Open Access.

El European Diamond Capacity Hub y el proyecto ALMASI, financiado por la UE, celebrarán un acto conjunto los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2025 en Madrid (España), con motivo del anuncio de su lanzamiento.
En el evento, se presentarán las características clave del European Diamond Capacity Hub (Centro Europeo para la Capacidad del Diamante), junto con una serie de oportunidades para la participación activa y la colaboración, así como el papel del proyecto ALMASI en el panorama mundial del Diamond Open Access y los elementos que lo componen. La inscripción para el evento presencial está abierta hasta el 16 de diciembre de 2024 (12:00 PM, CET).
El European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) tiene como objetivo fortalecer la comunidad de acceso abierto Diamante en Europa mediante el apoyo a los servicios de publicaciones institucionales, nacionales y disciplinares europeos, a los editores y a los proveedores de servicios implicados en la publicación en acceso abierto Diamante. El EDCH pretende contribuir a la coordinación y la sostenibilidad de la publicación académica no comercial proporcionando servicios de formación, herramientas técnicas y facilitando economías de escala entre los agentes. De este modo, el EDCH responde a la necesidad de desarrollo de capacidades en la comunidad Diamond OA expresada en el Action Plan for Diamond Open Access.

El proyecto ALMASI (Aligning and Mutualizing Nonprofit Open Access Publishing Services Internationally) pretende desarrollar un ecosistema de comunicación académica sostenible, de alta calidad y sin ánimo de lucro que abarque tres regiones: África, Europa y América Latina. Esta iniciativa, que comenzará en enero de 2025 y tendrá una duración de tres años, cuenta con la participación de 15 socios de tres continentes que trabajarán en:
- Comprender el panorama actual de la publicación en acceso abierto no comercial en las tres regiones.
- Co-diseñar y alinear sus estándares de calidad, recursos de formación y desarrollo de políticas institucionales y nacionales..
El proyecto ALMASI está financiado por el programa de investigación e innovación Horizonte Europa de la Unión Europea en virtud del acuerdo de subvención nº 101188192.
